Meditation Without Effort
Understanding Stillness, Awareness Without Pressure
ย
What if meditation didnโt require you to empty your mind, control your thoughts, sit perfectly still, or work so hard at becoming peaceful?
Meditation Without Effort offers a different approach.
This self-directed workshop is designed to help you develop a natural, comfortable relationship with meditation while becoming more consciously connected to yourself, your awareness, and the stillness that is already within you.
Across 11 progressive modules, Rev. Dr. Barry King gently guides you from understanding why meditation can sometimes feel difficult to actually experiencing awareness as part of your everyday life.
Inside the Workshop
Each module offers several different ways to explore and experience the teaching:
- Companion Video Teachings with Rev. Barry โ practical explanations that help you understand meditation, thoughts, awareness, sensitivity, the body, and stillness.
- Tea with Rev. Barry King โ relaxed, personal conversations that expand upon each lesson and invite deeper reflection.
- The Experience โ real-life awareness practices that take meditation beyond the chair and into ordinary life.
- Awareness Checklists โ simple questions that help you notice what you experienced without judging or grading yourself.
- Guided Meditative Exercises โ gentle practices that gradually help you become more comfortable with stillness and awareness.
- Living This Experience โ ways to carry each lesson into your everyday life.
- Barryโs Thought for Today โ a simple thought to remember as you continue your day.
- Closing Thoughts and Reflections โ encouragement to help you integrate what you are discovering.
Your experiential practice also develops gradually. You'll begin with 10-minute experiences, progress to 15 minutes, and eventually spend 20 minutes comfortably exploring stillness and awareness.
But this isn't about endurance or becoming a โbetter meditator.โ
It's about giving yourself enough time to notice.
You'll explore how to allow thoughts without fighting them, return to the present without judgment, remain centred around other people, listen to your body, recognize the difference between reacting and responding, and discover what happens when you stop trying so hard to make meditation work.
And beneath all of it is a deeper understanding:
Awareness is already present.
You don't have to create it.
